August 2025 Meeting for Business Minutes

Call to Order

Facilitated by Curt Thompson acting as Clerk, Glenn Boylan acting as Assistant Clerk, and Elizabeth Herrera acting as Recording Clerk for this meeting. 

Curt called to order the meeting for business for Peachtree Friends Meeting at 10am on August 10, 2025 at the Activity Center at Christ Church Episcopl in Norcross.  

An opening silence was observed. 

Attendance

Fourteen people attended the meeting. No roll call was conducted. 

Approval of Minutes

No changes or corrections were requested on the minutes of the July meeting for business.  The minutes were thus approved.

Statement for the Treatment of Immigrants 

The final version of the meeting’s statement for the treatment of immigrants was published with the minutes of the July meeting for business and posted on the Peachtree Friends website. 

Glenn said that the Quaker recommendations for what to do if ICE shows up at a meeting has been published by the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting. Glenn will post a link to the article on the Peachtree Friends website.  

Treasury Review

Edward and Elizabeth reported that the meeting is financially solvent. We are working to build up a six month reserve of funds but are not quite there yet. The Finance Committee is finishing up a review of the finances and will present a complete report at the next meeting for business. 

Ed asked if the meeting was a 501(c)(3) organization. It is not at this time.  

Movie Night

The date for the next movie night is Saturday, September 13th.  Edward will manage communications to select a movie and remind Members and Friends of the Meeting of the event.    

Interim Treasurer and Recording Clerk 

Elizabeth announced that she will be away from the meeting for a period of time. Edward agreed to serve as the interim Treasurer and Glenn agreed to serve as the interim Recording Clerk for the meeting in Elizabeth’s absence.

Please share items for next meeting’s agenda to Curt Thompson or Glenn Boylan by September 7th.  The next Meeting for Business will be held on September 14th at 10 am.
