The meeting for business for Peachtree Friends Meeting was convened on June 14, 2026 at 10:00 am.
An opening silence was observed.
Approval of Previous Minutes
The minutes for the May 9 business meeting were reviewed and approved at the meeting.
Treasury Review
Edward Guerra reported that the Meeting remains solvent with slightly more than $2000.00 in cash reserves after buying the bookcase.
Religious Education Review
Friends discussed upcoming sessions and the need for folks to possibly volunteer to fill a few open slots. Glenn Boylan has returned and that has helped in terms of programming.
Movie Night/Social Gathering
Friends discussed that there was not yet a social event in June and that we did not meet the typical Saturday before Business Meeting as we had been. We discussed possibly meeting later in June to do something but there appeared to be no real unity to do so. It was noted that the Meeting House would still be problematic for a movie night due to lighting issues in June and July.
There was discussion of trying to go to another play as had happened earlier in the year. Curt Thompson suggested the Shakespeare Tavern and agreed to look into that and other options and to report back to the Meeting in the various chats to see if there would be enough interest to go.
Book Case
We discussed the use of the bookcase that we bought and folks agreed to check to see if they had books and items from the old Meeting House that they could return to the bookcase here. This included Scott King who said he had some.
Friends also agreed that they would reach out to Erin Schroder who it is believed had a lot of the books and items from the prior Meeting House. Curt Thompson will follow up with her about this. Friends also discussed subscribing to Friends Journal and having copies in the bookcase. Edward Guerra will check into the cost of a subscription and report back at the next Meeting for Business.
New Items for Business
There was some discussion as to whether we should be putting away chairs at the end of Meeting for Worship or not and also discussion about asking Christ Church about their long term intentions for the space since they appeared to be clearing it out. Edward Guerra agreed to ask the Church about the chair issue but did worry about bothering them with unnecessary questions and requests.
Next Business Meeting
The next business meeting is scheduled for July 12th.
The meeting adjourned with a moment of silence at 10:45 am.
